Mission

TO STRENGTHEN THE LOCAL FOOD SYSTEM BY SUPPORTING NEW MEXICO'S AGRICULTURAL PRODUCERS AND CREATING STRONG NETWORKS FOR A HEALTHIER STATE. THIS INVOLVES EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT EATING HEALTHY, LOCALLY GROWN AND PRODUCED FOOD; ENGAGING LOW-INCOME AND LIMITED-RESOURCE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN CREATING HEALTHY EATING HABITS; PROMOTING NURITION ACCESS PROGRAMS AT FARMERS' MARKETS AND OTHER RETAIL OUTLETS; PROVIDING MARKETING SUPPORT TO FARMERS, RANCHERS, MARKET MANAGERS, VALUE CHAIN COORDINATORS, AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS WHO WORK WITHIN THE LOCAL FOOD SYSTEM THROUGHOUT NEW MEXICO. THE NMFMA ALSO PROVIDES WIDE-RANGING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO FARMERS, RANCHERS, AND FOOD PRODUCERS WHO SELL THEIR LOCALLY GROWN PRODUCTS THROUGH THE "NEW MEXICO GROWN" FARM-TO-INSTITUTION STATE PROCUREMENT PROGRAMS, TO FOOD IS MEDICINE HEALTH CLINIC PROGRAMS, AND TO OTHER VALUE-DRIVEN MARKETS THAT STRIVE TO SUPPORT LOCAL AGRICUTURE AND REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES, INCLUDING THOSE THAT SERVE RURAL AND T
