Mission

UWMD IS A COMMUNITY-BASED SOCIAL CHANGE ORGANIZATION THAT BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF UNITY TO CREATE LASTING CHANGE. FOR OVER 90 YEARS, WE'VE LED THE CHARGE TO STRENGTHEN EDUCATION, INCOME AND HEALTH-THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF OPPORTUNITY. (CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE O)UWMD HAS THE ASPIRATION THAT EVERY NORTH TEXAN, REGARDLESS OF RACE OR ZIP CODE, SHOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY AND ACCESS TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. IN EDUCATION WE SEEK TO GIVE KIDS A STRONG START, PROVIDE QUALITY OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME, AND STRONG PATHWAYS THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL TO COLLEGE AND CAREER. IN INCOME WE INVEST IN PROGRAMS THAT HELP NORTH TEXANS GET AND KEEP BETTER JOBS, ESTABLISH SAVINGS, AND HOLD ON TO MORE OF WHAT THEY EARN. IN HEALTH WE CREATE, LEAD, AND INVEST IN PROGRAMS THAT ENABLE RESIDENTS TO GET AND STAY HEALTHY.
